The Carberry Kids
The local recreation district holds afterschool programs at the various schools. Aaron and I were asked to bring some goats to share and to talk about 4-H. It was so cold today but we all put on jackets (even Ruth and Boaz) and went for a ride. The two legged kids LOVED the four legged kids! I am always amazed - we live in a rural area, yet there are so many children who have never gotten to have hands on with various farm animals! What a way for Ruth and Boaz to celebrate being one week-old!

Mini Nubuians!!
Introducing Cherry Butte Boaz (black buck) and Cherry Butte Ruth (brown doe). This fine little critters were born on the 3rd. I was really worried about their mama - last year she had a horrid delivery - she had a single kid - the spine had fused and the organs were all on the outside. The kid had to be pulled (thank goodness for friends willing to help!). I was told then that she has a very small pelvis, so, we decided to breed her to a Nigerian buck and start a line of mini-Nubians. Thankfully she had an INCREDIBLY easy delivery this year and both kids are healthy and bouncing around like crazy! We are really anxious to see how they do - mama is a 4-H Champion and daddy has won mult-championships as well.
