SUCCESS!!!

We had a very successful ISDGA show and brought home several champions and reserves! Our 2 year old Cherry Butte Kissez now has two legs toward her permanent championship as does her brother Cherry Butte Snickers! This is so exciting for us because we are showing animals that WE bred!! Other's earning legs were: Cherry Butte Carousel Sunday, Cherry Butte Princess Mia and Cherry Butte Cupid's Comet. AND Snickers was named Best Buck In Show in Ring One! He is such a neat buck and is throwing really nice kids - one of which was Res.Jr. Champion doe in one ring and another Cherry Butte Winchester was Res. Jr. Ch. Buck in all three rings!

Showing, showing . . . .

We took about 30 animals to show and as the next collage will show, we did VERY well with our minis!

ISDGA Showmanship

The week-end started with Friday night showmanship. Aaron's doe Lovey was a perfect little gal for him even having been turned out waiting to kid all spring. Aaron did a wonderful job and won his Junior class. He was thrd in the Jr. Champion run-off. The judge was wonderful with the kids and gave them all alot of good pointers and was very excited to see them remembering to use her pointers as they continued to show in the opne classes throughout the week-end.

2010 ISDGA Classic Show

We spent Memorial Day week-end in Boise at a 4-ring ADGA show and 3-ring MDGA show! The weather wasn't the best - rainy and cool - made getting goats cleaned up and ready a real challenge! Here are some scenes from around the show before the hurry-scurry, hustle-bustle of showing started.

Our Latest Babies

Aaron's showmanship doe forced me to multi-task again the other night - LOL. Had watched her all afternoon and evening - thought she might have them while we were at 4-H - but no she waited until I was milking at almost 9:30 that night!! Flashy little buck and doe kids out of Scooby's Buddy - his last kids for us. He is Cherry Butte Presley and she is Cherry Butte Dinah and both are for sale!

TVDGA Youth Showmanship

This is the first year that the TVDGA has offered a youth showmanship class at their show and I would say it was pretty successful! Rather than using the January 1st base date for the age groups, they used the show date, so Aaron had to bump up to the Intermmediate class. He did an excellant job considering his showmanship do was left behind to have babies (but she didn't) and he was working with his new mini-Oberhasli yearling that he has only had a month. He placed second in the Intermmediate class and finished Reserve Champion Senior Showman! Now he says he needs to really study for the next show in three weeks . . .

Brrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Here we are three days from our first show and the weather is HORRID! It is only supposed to get up to 48 degrees today and possibly snow tonight after gusting winds!!! I have the five mature does pretty much clipped (the three babies are going natural thank you ). I was going to just dairy clip, but thanks to the really warm weather we WERE having, the undercoat is coming up on all of the does and they have spots rubbed completly out! So the yearling Nigerians are in dog sweaters and the two milkers look like show horses with their lycra sheep tubes and nylong blankets!! I plan to add another blaket to each doe tonight and just pray no one gets sick. I would LOVE to put them in the barn, but none of the mamas that are in now have kidded!! Sigh . . .
