2010 Wine Country Classic Show

Mom, dad, Aaron and I traveled to Walla Walla, Washington June 25th-27th to attend the MDGA sanctioned Wine Country Classic Show. It was a smaller, more casual show but the quality of animals was amazing! We had three fantastic judges who gave wonderful oral reasons and taught us alot. I always enjoy meeting people that I have conversed with via e-mail as well. We did very well - Aaron won his Junior showmanship class and was named Champion Overall Showman. Our mini-Lamancha doe Carousel Sunday was Best Sr. Doe in Show in two rings, her daughter Honeysuckle was Best Jr. Doe in Show in one ring and Cherry Butte Almond Joy was Best Jr. Doe in Show in one ring. We also won a jr. mini Oberhasli buckling in the raffle - AJUD Ima Classic is settling in and doing well - think he might even have figured out that he is a bottle baby now!

Meridian Dairy Days Goat Show

Aaron took Lovey and Almond Joy over to Meridian to show at the Dairy Days 4-H/FFA show this morning. This is a small, rather casual show but there are always some very nice animals. Aaron was Reserve Champion Jr. Showman and Reserve Champion Overall Showman. Lovey won her class and was named Reserver Champion Sr. Alpine. Almond Joy also won her class and was named Champion Jr. Mini Dairy Goat. We were done, had lunch and were back home by noon - gotta like that!

A Bonus!!

Back the first part of April, we traded a mini-Alpine doe kid for a dry 2 year old Nigerian doe. A few weeks ago, she started getting rather fat and hmmmm . . . there wasn't an udder there before was there? Checked back with the gal that we got her from and sure enough, Dearest had been runnng with the fainting goat bucks!! Today, while we were getting goats ready for the show tomorrow, I heard a commotion out back - went to check and there was Dearest with her new doe kid!! I expect "Baby's" ears to straighten out in a day or so - mama's particular blood line seems to through kids with newborn floppy ears. Since we will be traveling out of state to a show next week-end, we decided to let Dearest raise her baby - a new thing for us but kind of fun to watch nature take its course for a change!
