COLD weather and Frozen Lakes
The big storm we had blew around us - thank goodness! After several days of rain we are REALLY flooded! The temperature has dropped to the teens and we now have a thin sheet of ice over all of the water! I am not sure that goats are impressed at all! I spent the afternoon rebedding their sheds so they have someplace dry to lay!

Early Mornings . . .
. . . are so quiet and peaceful! The moon was gorgeous this morning so I had to take a photo or two or three . . .

Thank You Secret Santa!
My other love, besides goats, is Paint horses (and we are owned by two) so I have visited a Paint Horse message board for many, many years - before Aaron was born in fact! Each year we have a secret santa gift exchange and this year my Santa, Holly, outdid herself! Holly does custom embroidary on the side and made me four of these lovely little towels. They for sure will NOT be going out to the barn - LOL.

it is snowing again . . .
. . . big, white, fluffy flakes. They look so pretty coming down but what a mess they will make in the end.
A month and a couple of weeks til the first babies are due - we are sure seeing some fat does . . . the countdown begins.

Uggghhhhh!!
Well the snow is gone, for now, but there is NO PLACE for the water to go! The west end of our property is a tad low and always floods! I spent the afternoon - moving a calf hutch into the front field for temporary housing and then had to wade through that mess behind the hay barn to chase the goats out front! They are calling for high winds and heavy rain tonight - great - NOT!

Our New Herd Sign
This has been several yeas in the making and Tami Schafer of Ch'Wa'Ki' Dairy Goats delivered it to us today at the ISDGA Christmas Potluck. Tami is very talented as you can see and makes hay bag and blanket awards as well!

The Girls of Winter
Silly things thought I was going to feed them but I had to tell them it was only one o'clock in the afternoon and reminded them to smile pretty.
Winter At Cherry Butte - 2010
It started snowing yesterday about noon and snowed all afternoon and night and kept snowing until about noon today! T here is over a foot of snow out in the barnyard!! I am only 5'3" and in places the snow was up to my knees and there really was no blowing or drifting!! After dragging my garden cart through all of that for morning feeding, I bout a sled for evening chores! Slightly better but alot of hay was wasted cause it was baled so loosely and it kept falling off!!! I am in for them evening and am just wiped out!
