First Baby of 2011 is Here!

Aaron had a late night ski trip Friday night and I didn't want to be on the highway coming home that late (and they got back even later than they said they would) so we took a night off for a retreat. I thought we would be o.k. - no one was due til the 3rd. Well, wouldn't you know it, Aaron opened the barn door this morning to a little Nigerian buckling!! He is ADORABLE!! He was dry and fuzzy and mama has settled into her job just fine!

Just a Qucik Flyby

Not too much going on here. Had a bit of trouble finding hay this last time so hunkered down and had six tons delivered this morning.

The mamas have all settled into their routine in the barn - they have decided they LOVE it when I give them peanuts in the shell for a treat!! I let them out to wandere the barn yard when the weahter is nice - we are getting quite a bit of sporadic rain and on those days they are content to stay in.

Think it will be a race between Candy and Havarti as to who kids first!

Caramel - Aaron's showmanship doe is not bred - darn! Neither is Lovey who is the other doe he's used, so he is going to have to start from scratch - he isn't thrilled about it but I knew he can handle it!

Whew!! Disaster AVOIDED!

Havarti is getting SOOOO close, I decided to put her and the other does that are up first in the barn during the night. My cameras were NOT working and my computer gu-ru is a world away!! Thanks to some patient tutoring via chat, I finally got them going this afternoon - whew! I was not looking forward to that tromp out to the barn once an hour through out the night!! This is Ruth and Havarti - they are sharing a pen for the moment as Ruth just has a fit when she is by herself (it is a Nubian thing - LOL).

Odeo Melodee was bred to Odeon Naughty Boy and is due February 3rd. She will be a two year old first freshener. While giving her vaccinations tonight, I got a good solid baby kick!
